It was my first trip from Omaha made without my husband, Tim. We planned to stay about 3 or 4 days. My daughter Lianne and myself like to fish, Tim doesn't, so we usually go fishing without him. So when Dad said he had a surprise for us and that we had to be up at 5 am, we were excited when he said we were going fishing for stripers, we didn't know what a striper was, but we were about to find out. We dragged ourselves out of bed, I was a little quicker than Lianne, who's 13. David picked us up as I didn't know my way around the Mountain Home area very well. I was a little nervous going fishing with a stranger, but after just 5 minutes with Dave I knew we would be fine. It was still dark, but very warm. The lake was calm and peaceful. After getting the cover off the boat we loaded up and off we went, it was an exhilarating feeling, the boat was bigger than we expected and a whole lot faster. Dave started setting the rods up for down rigging (never heard of it before) and we started trolling, one of the rods snapped up, we had a bite, Lianne got to reel him in, or at least try to, David had to hold the rod so Lianne could continue to reel. She was shaking with excitement as they pulled in a 17 pounder, which was soon followed by a 12 and then a 14 pound fish. We were spoiled, fishing would never be the same... We decided to extend our stay by one more day, then two, why not make it a week? We fished every morning, and even the odd evening too. David cleaned all the fish for us and we took them back to Omaha. We had a fish fry and fed 14 people with plenty left over. I think I could even talk Tim into striper fishing with Dave, but if not I know the way there now and an 8 hour drive is well worth it. I highly recommend David Luttrell to anyone as a very competent, reliable and funny guy, great with kids of all ages. He made me feel very comfortable and the fishing was excellent. So if you do nothing else on your trip to Mountain Home area you have to go fishing with Dave."
